It loved to happen

I embraced the face of curiosity.
It victimized my passions and my vanity.
She cuts me down and sends me helpless to the ground.
As I fall apart and crawl back up on my knees.

She takes off all her clothes.
I've seen that look in her eyes before.
I hear her voice screaming at me again.

She says to me it's all about control
and I haven't any or so I've been told.
She likes to play with my insecurities.
I'm tangled up and defenseless to her needs.

Like a spider in its web preying,
she sucks my proteins dry.
Playing the part, she's a very good sport.
She wants me more again.

Baby, you know that you are my pride,
but you don't listen to me. Why won't you hear me sing?
She says "I listen to you all the time
and you don't say nothing, except when you complain."

Well baby, you're the apple of my eye,
but the tie that binds us must not be that thick.
She laughs as she looks me dead in the eyes and says
"Don't be so damn melodramatic."

For better or for worse,
she gives me more than I receive.
Love is a misunderstood emotion and
I embrace the face again.
